Big Changes!

We have some big changes coming soon for the Ohio Valley Museum of Discovery. For the past six years, the Market on State Street has been our museum home. We are so grateful to Brent and Cindy Hayes and Tom Parfitt for donating this space and to the mall staff for their support in allowing us to bring hands-on, exploratory, interactive experiences to the southeast Ohio region. As many of you know, we are planning a new museum location at 67 Columbus Road with the design wizardry of Hilferty and Associates and architectural know-how of RVC Architects, Inc. This new space will expand everything that we do at OVMoD and will help us to bring even more STEAM-focused, play-based learning to visitors of all ages!

We will be moving from our current home on State Street after this weekend’s event on Saturday, March 18. Change can be a bit challenging and it will be difficult for us not to see our friends on weekends, so we hope that you will be able to visit us at some of our events throughout the community this spring and summer. We will host an outdoor event at our new location on Earth Day – April 22 as well as several Athens County Public Library appearances throughout the summer. The museum will be updating the progress of our new location on our website: www.ovmod.org as well as on Facebook: www.facebook.com/ovmod and Instagram: www.instagram.com/ovmod. You can sign up for our newsletter on our website, too! We at the museum have enjoyed being a part of this community and can’t wait to grow into our new space, but we realize that informal learning spaces like this do not exist without the support of visitors like YOU.
