Dr. Lucas has been a board member since 2015. He is a faculty member in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Ohio University and is a point-person for the department’s community outreach. Dr. Lucas contributes to teacher professional development opportunities in the region and likes to make sure that those around him get a chance to “play” and “discover” the world around them through science. Recently he founded an informal group for middle and high school youth called the Athens Makers. Dr. Lucas has a B.S. in Physics from Purdue University and a Ph.D. in Nuclear Experimental Physics from the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign.
