Rick joined the board in 2021 after participating with the museum as a member of the museum fundraising committee. Formerly the Athens High School track and field coach and an educator in the district for thirty years, his service to the surrounding community throughout the years has taken many forms. Rick was integral to the efforts to rebuild the high school sports stadium after it was destroyed in a tornado. He has worked with many sports programs and was the first President of the Bulldog Blitz organization.
